About Me

Hi, I’m Dr. Barbara Parey, MD. I’m a board-certified Family Medicine physician with a passion for caring for the whole person. After completing both my undergraduate and medical education at the University of Rochester, I went on to complete my residency at Franklin Square Hospital in Baltimore. I’ve worked in both urban and rural communities, including six years of service in the U.S. National Health Service Corps in western New York. My clinical interests include women’s health and public health, and I bring a deep respect for the lived experiences that shape each patient’s story.

Favorite Hobby

I stay grounded and creative through gardening, caring for house plants, cooking, reading, and spending time with my grandchildren. Most recently, I’ve even started writing a children’s book—an exciting new adventure for me!

Patient-Centric Approach

I always begin by listening. Every patient carries a story—past and present—and understanding that story is key to understanding their health. I take the time to hear what my patients are really saying and work with them to find care solutions that fit their lives.

Top Health Tip

When life feels overwhelming or uncertain, step back and turn down the noise around you. Take a quiet moment and listen to yourself—you often already hold the answer.

If you could have dinner with a historical figure, who would it be and why?

I would choose Amelia Earhart. She was bold, brave, and ahead of her time. I’d love to hear about her adventures—and finally find out what really happened to her.
